RECIPES: Marijuana Balm
HOW MUCH MARIJUANA DO I NEED?
The question is how much marijuana do I need to use to create good medicine? Because marijuana quality varies, it is impossible to predict exactly how much to use in order to achieve the desired results. It is better to get it weak instead of too strong until you know your tolerance to marijuana edibles. This information might help a bit in figuring out what you might require: Everyone has their own opinion, but I typically say one dose is 0.4 grams. Many people get relief using less, but others need more, or their need varies from day to day. The type and quality of cannabis used in the oil also factors in: bud is much stronger than shake (but less predictable potency), vaporized cannabis will be weaker and have a higher concentration of cannabinoids that vaporize at higher temperatures (which can be more sedating). Always start with a half dose, and then take the other half, just to make sure there were no calculation errors

Small Amount of Homemade Pain Relieving Cream

Healing Calendula and Comfrey Salve with Cannabis Reduce pain and tenderness associated with bruises, sprains and strains with a handmade salve of calendula and comfrey. If you grow calendula and comfrey, dry the flowers of the former and the leaves of the latter and store in separate jars in a cupboard. Alternatively, buy from an herb store or online retailer. Ingredients • 1-1⁄2 cups olive, apricot or almond oil 1⁄2 cup dried, crumbled calendula flowers • 1⁄2 cup dried, crumbled comfrey leaves • 1⁄4 cup grated beeswax • 1 ounce of cannabis bud or 2 ounces of cannabis shake (leaves) that have been crumbled. Instructions (decarb your cannabis before using by placing covered in an oven at 240 for approx. an hour) 1. The first step is to heat the oil enough to release the plants’ active ingredients. Use one of two methods: • Pour herbs into a clean, dry jar. Add oil until herbs are covered. Stir with a chopstick or wooden spoon. As herbs absorb the oil, add more oil to thoroughly cover herbs. Screw on lid. Place jar in a sunny window and shake daily for two weeks. • Add herbs and oil to the top of a double boiler. Make sure herbs are completely covered with oil. Heat on low for 30 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. 2. Strain oil through cheesecloth into a glass measuring cup. This is an herbal oil. You can stop here, label the oil in a lidded jar and store in a dark place. Use it topically on cuts or skin irritation. Or follow the next steps to turn the oil into a salve. 3. Grate beeswax (or use ready-made beeswax pastilles). Combine oil and grated beeswax in a double boiler and heat just until beeswax melts. Stir to thoroughly combine. 4. To check the consistency, drop a small amount onto a plate and let cool. If too soft, add more beeswax. If too firm, add more oil. Pour immediately into a clean, dry jar or tin. Screw on the cap and label. The salve will solidify as it cools. Store in a cool cupboard or refrigerator. Apply as needed to bruises and small burns, scrapes and cuts. source: http://www.motherearthliving.com/health-and-wellness/natural-remedies/calendula-comfrey-salve-zmfz15jazhou.aspx |
Cannabis Balm: Pain Be Gone
Ingredients:
Although this recipe could be made using a pan on the stove or crock pot; I use a Magical Butter Machine which allows everything to be completely pulverized and emulsified. .
White Willow Bark Tincture: . I use a 1:3 ratio of white willow bark Everclear. 80 proof will work as well, but I prefer stronger for tincturing the hard bits, like roots, bark, and seeds. Put the bark into a glass canning jar (I usually use a quart size for this), pour in some vodka, gently mix with a long knife or skewer so as to make sure all of the bark is mixed with the vodka. Top off with more vodka, and securely fasten the lid to the jar.
Keep in a sunny spot for six weeks, and be sure to pick up the jar daily and shake it gently so that the vodka moves through all the bark. At the end of six weeks, strain and bottle in one or four ounce bottles with eyedropper caps/pipettes. Store in a dark, cool place, and it keeps almost indefinitely. Take one eyedropper-full serving (about 30-40 drops) in an ounce or two or water or juice, three to four times per day.
Another nice touch would be to only bottle half of it for immediate use, and make a double or even a triple tincture with the rest. Using the same ratio, put more bark into another glass canning jar. If you used a quart-sized jar before, use a pint-sized jar this time. Add new white willow bark to the jar, and cover with the white willow bark tincture for another six weeks. Repeat the gentle shaking daily, and keep in a sunny spot for these six weeks. Strain and transfer to bottles and store in a dark place.

Homemade Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion without Coconut Oil
Ingredients
- ½ cup (4oz) shea butter
- 2 TB skin nourishing oil, such as: jojoba, avocado, rice bran oil, apricot, or sweet almond oil. This can even be coconut oil. (I use rice bran oil)
- 15 drops drops lavender essential oil
- 10 drops rosemary essential oil
- 57 drops carrot seed oil
- 35 drops tea tree essential oil
Instructions
1. In a sauce pan or double broiler (a glass bowl over a pot filled ¼ the way full with boiling water) over medium low
heat, melt the shea butter. Add in the nourishing skin oil. Turn off the heat.
2. Pour into a bowl (I use my KitchenAid bowl). Place in the freezer and allow to cool and return to a solid (not
hard) form. This takes about 15-20 minutes. Don't freeze the mixture.
3. Once solid looking remove from the freezer. Add in the essential oils and carrot seed oil. Using the whisk
attachment on your mixer, whip the mixture until soft and looks like buttery whip cream. This takes just a
minute or two. Don't overwhip. Scoop into a jar (like these or these) and store at room temp. Apply to both body
and face as desired.

Copycat Lush Bath Salts
Directions:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING!
Combine baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and Epsom salts in a large bowl and whisk together well.
Choose scents you like, whatever oils you have at home will work.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix well with a whisk. The mixture will bubble just a bit and begin to clump together. At this point, set the whisk aside and work with your fingers. Mix and blend the mixture until it is well combined and has the texture of mildly wet sand. It should clump together when you squeeze it with your fingers. If the mixture resembles dry sand (dry and very crumbly, does not clump together), moisten it gradually with a spray bottle, one spritz at a time. You can either mold into shapes into bath size or simply let the mixture dry to put into jar for use in the bath by the spoon full.
I had a friend use some. She reported back that she was pain free for four hours with a nice warm glow of a feeling.
Note:
- 10 oz. baking soda
- 6 oz. granulated citric acid
- 6 oz. cornstarch
- 6 oz. Epsom salts (finely ground)
- 4 t. water, divided
- 4-8 t. Marijuana oil, divided
- 4 t. extra virgin coconut oil, divided (you can use some of your marijuana balm made with coconut oil)
- food coloring (optional)
- dried flowers or herbs, for garnish

Cannabis Root Salve
Start by making an infused oil from the roots that you have washed off, dried and then ground into a powder
Ingredients 1:
Ground dried cannabis roots (I would use no less than two ounces per 1 cup of oil)
coconut or olive oil
Method:
Place ground dried roots in a crock-pot or into your MBM and cover with coconut or olive oil by an inch or two. I usually use 1 cup of oil to 2 ounces of plant material that is not flower. Gently heat the mixture over very low heat or in your MBM for 4-5 hours. Allow to cool. Strain and pour into dry sterilized amber bottles. (I like using Worcestershire sauce bottles).
Ingredients 2:
8 oz infused oil
1 oz beeswax
vitamin E (as a preservative)
10-20 drops essential oil (optional, I like peppermint)
Method:
Place infused oils and beeswax over a double boiler and warm over low heat until the wax melts. Turn off the heat and add the essential oil and vitamin E. Pour into a glass jar.
The consistency of the salve can be adjusted depending on your preferences.
Use less wax for a soft salve and more wax if you want a thicker salve.

Alice Sievers Rodriguez posted this giving us a way to use our left overs. You just might learn to love this simple way to help with pain issues: After I finished my golden oil infusion yesterday,I tossed the left over cannabis with some vg pulp I had in the freezer, in my mbm with a cup of Epson salts and 3 cups water. Ran it At 160f for 2 hours. I have the most wonderful magnesium spray now!
If I sit in my shower and use this, rub it in and sit and then use some hot water to rinse, I am pain-free for a whole day. Not much gets done I'm so relaxed, it is the MOST wonderful stuff. I think this could be of GREAT use for kids with autism as a spray for nighttime. Rub the feet and legs with the stuff. Or take a bath in it.
