RECIPES: Marijuana Tinctures
Do not think I have this in the wrong category, as this past is used much like a tincture and should be classified as one.
Sages Canna-Paste
Supplies & Ingredients:
Magical Butter Machine ( stove top or crock pot can be used)
1 ounce buds or shake/trim
3/4 cup Vegetable (I use Rice Bran Oil)
100% pure glycerin
1/4 cup Organic Raw Virgin Coconut Oil1
1 Tablespoon of sunflower lecithin powder
2 Tablespoons 190 or 4 tblspn 151 proof alcohol (NO ISO)
Optional 2 tblspn water1-2 TSP pure vanilla
Directions:
Pre grind herb to a fine powder, place in turkey bag. For the maximum THC heat it to 240° F for 45 minutes.
Add all but alcohol to MB2, set to 160f run for 2 hours.
Add alcohol let stand for 1 hour.
Set to 160f run for 2 hours again let stand for 1 hour.
Set to 160f run for 8 hours
Put mix in oven proof glass bowl or container
Get rice cooker ready don't make water level to high. (TURN ON OVEN FANS its only a small amount of alcohol but safety first)
Set to high setting
place bowl in rice cooker make sure water level is 1/2-3/4 of bowl height or water well splash into bowl when it starts bowling. If water level is too high. Do this for 20-30 minutes
Check temperature of paste while burning off alcohol it should be between 135-160f.
Take out of water bath
Let stand 10-15 minutes.
DONT STRAIN put paste in mason jar put in freezer 24 hours min 48 hours best.
Storage:
If you want it to be like syrup put in cupboard out of direct light.
If you want it to be like molasses put in fridge
If you want it to be like peanut butter place in freezer.
Note: the more of a liquid the paste is the faster the body absorbs it.
If it is stored in cupboard buzz and pain relief effects are 10-20 minutes Stored in the refrigerator 30-40 hours
Stored in the freezer 1hour.
Starting dosage 1/8th of a TSP 2x a day warning if you get stoned your going to be that way 8-12 hours and no I'm not kidding.
Time and effects:
10 minutes after dosage affects depression
15 minutes breathing issues
20-30 minutes pain
If your trying to control medical issues I would increase dosage until things are controlled. And then stay there.
Cancer or other serious diseases:
Start at 1/8th of a TSP 3-4x a day depending on pain.
Increase every 5 days your goal is 2-3 Tablespoons 3-4x a day again depending on pain.
If we look at this like oil ie: 1 pound of material makes 60 grams of oil. So 1 pound of material would make 4 litres of paste. Each liter would be like 15 grams of oil.
For cancer patients and other serious problems doing this over 2-3 months would be best. For control you have enough doses to last for the next year or so best of luck.

I use a kosher food grade brand of vegetable glycerine called plant guru. You can use any you like make sure it's food grade.
In your mbm place 1 oz cannabis and 2 cups vg.
Set at the 8 hour cycle at 160.
Run this 8 hour cycle two times a day for 4 days allowing it to keep soaking over night.
On the 5 th day warm the mixture at 160 for one hour.
Strain through cheese cloth or a nut milk bag. It will be messy so do it over a wide bowl. Squeeze as hard as you can to get out all of it out. I would even put the bag into a potato ricer to put even more pressure on that bag.
Store in a jar in the fridge

FULL EXTRACT CANNABIS OIL FECO
Pack the quart sized glass canning jar loosely with your marijuana. It has to have enough space for the alcohol to swirl around along with room for the marijuana. Pour the fifth of Everclear over the Marijuana and into the jar. You can stir it with a spoon and then seal the jar with a good fitting lid (I purchase the plastic screw on lids for canning jars available at most stores that have canning supplies.) Don't stir too much or shake to death. You do not want the marijuana to be broken up too much. Let the jar sit for approximately 5 minutes and set into your freezer. Walk by 3 - 4 times a day being sure to remember to give the closed jar a shake or two. On the 5th day, strain through cheesecloth at least twice to make sure all pieces of marijuana have been removed from the tincture you have made. Now, you can do one of two things:
Many people prefer the non-tasting method of taking capsules that are filled with their medicine. You could mix some of the FECO with coconut oil to use in caps. 13 #0 capsules weigh 1 gram. I have purchased both the syringes and capsules from Amazon.com. You could also store your FECO in small containers like the ones here on the right. Many even like to spread out a wee bit on the paper they roll their joint in to provide that extra bit of medicine to their smoke. You could even put a dab on top of some weed you have in your pipe. Patients who require very strong medicine love FECO. |
Sage Amdahl's FECO Method
1/2 oz cannabis finely ground. 1 oz 190 proof everclear 12 tbs ghee made from organic grass fed butter, organic virgin coconut oil, or culinary oil of your choice. ( an oil with a high temperature smoke point is best.) In a ball canning jar add your ground cannabis. Add 1oz everclear and mix well. Seal jar and freeze it for 8-10 hours. Remove the jar from the freezer and allow it to come to room temperature. Pour warmed ghee or oil of your choice, into the jar. Mix it well and seal. Place sealed jar in a preheated crockpot waterbath set to "warm". The water level in the crockpot should reach the same level as the mixture in the jar. Heat for 24 hours, stirring the contents in the jar occasionally. Remove the jar from the crockpot and allow to cool. Open the jar and pour the contents in a small saucepan and set the mixture on the stove on medium low heat until the liquid starts to simmer. Reduce the temperature to the lowest heat setting and allow alcohol to evaporate. It will be fully evaporated when the mixture stops bubbling and you can MO longer smell any alcohol vapors coming out of the oil. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Pour contents through a cheesecloth or a nut milk bag to strain. Squeeze out all remaining oil. Discard the pulp or save for other infusions such as salves. You should have now a very dark green, potent and fully decarboxylated medicinal FECGO. Use 1/4 cup in your standard baking recipe. Dosage: In a. Standard batch of 18 cookies. 1-2 cookies = 1 dose. Store oil in the freezer or refrigerator. |
GREEN DRAGON TINCTURE - Heated Version
This alcohol recipe can use an oven temperature of 325 degrees F while others use only 200 degrees and others would say to not go over 250 degrees. The Green Dragon is very potent. You can either just take very small amounts or put that same small amount into the drink of your choice. I think I would love mine in some limoncello with soda water over ice. |

- 1/8 of an ounce of high quality marijuana
- 2 oz. Bacardi Rum – 151 proof or Everclear if it is available in your area. I use Everclear
Rather than double the recipe, I would choose to do two extractions.

- Chop marijuana very fine (coffee grinder works great).
- Place in a shallow pan to bake at 325°F for 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven and place marijuana in 2 oz. of 151 proof rum or Everclear.
- Simmer in a water bath for 20 minutes. Maintain temperature of the rum and marijuana mixture at approximately 170-200 degrees.
- Strain the mixture through cheesecloth.
- Bottle up to store.
Notes
If I changed up the recipe using leaf/shake instead of bud, I would use 10 parts of alcohol to 1 part shake being sure to chop it up evenly as the more surface area gives you a more efficient extraction.
If you do not feel that you want to be heating alcohol because of fear of explosion. You could just take that same bottle and store in a dark cool place for 2-6 weeks. I'd shake it gently no less than 3 times per day.
Here is some science for those who need to know and want to cook the Green Dragon:
The purpose of the simmering is to heat the alcohol mixture to improve extraction rates and efficiencies. Heating during extraction increases the motion of the molecules (basic physics/chemistry) and drastically decreases extraction times. The boiling point of pure ethanol is 173°F (78°C). We will use the water bath to heat the rum/cannabis mixture to just below the boiling point of ethanol. Water boils at 212 degrees, so keep below boiling. Heating the alcohol mixture can be done very safely using a hot water bath. You will need an accurate candy or quick-read thermometer. Place approximately 1 inch of water in a wide, vertical-edged pan (9” diameter x 3” high). Bring the water to a low simmer. The rum/marijuana mixture should be in a small (1 pint) mason jar. Do NOT cover the jar.
Put the thermometer into the mason jar and place into the simmering water bath. Bring the temperature of the rum/cannabis mixture to about 170°F. The alcohol should be just barely boiling.
You should have the oven fan on high. You will notice that any alcohol fumes are mixed with water vapor from the water bath and vented out the fan. This combined with the fact that you are trying not to boil the ethanol makes the process quite safe.
I've had good success with extractions at 170 degrees Fahrenheit. At 170 the alcohol mixture will be slightly boiling. Note that this is alcohol boiling, not water boiling. Alcohol boils with very fine bubbles as opposed to the rolling boil of water. After 20 minutes the alcohol should be reduced by about half.
A standard eyedropper will transfer about 1ml (or 1 gram) of liquid. There are 29 milliliters in one ounce. So you should end up with about 30, or so, full eyedroppers (30 milliliters) of Green Dragon.
The Green Dragon should be a greenish-brown. If it is emerald green and smells like grass (from the chlorophyll), it will be weak. Emerald green indicates that the pre-baking was not sufficient. The Green Dragon should smell like bud, somewhat floral.
Dosage
You will have to re- figure dosage with each new batch. Start with one or two full dropper fulls (not drops! About 1 ml per dropper) and swallow them down. Check the time and note when you first feel effects, when you peak, the intensity of the peak, and how long it lasts. Make sure you can reproduce your titration (empty stomach, time of day, diluted in water etc. I would write it down keeping track of results. If you like what you feel, great. If too much or not good enough try again tomorrow with a different amount. With two points (high and low) you should have a pretty good idea of how it works on your body. Of course it might be different on someone considerably bigger or smaller. Effects take up to 1.5 hours to begin (at least in myself) and lasted for 5 hours (1 dropper) to 7-8 hours (2 droppers).

GREEN DRAGON TINCTURE - without cooking
Equipment and Supplies Use an air-tight jar (or jars) to mix your cannabis and solvent. This jar will need to be air-tight so it can be shaken daily over the course of a few weeks. Mason canning jars are a great choice.

Directions:
Enjoy! Remember to use with caution until you get a feel for the potency of your batch of Green Dragon.
- Grind up the marijuana.
- Decarboxylation step: Heat marijuana on a cookie sheet or in a glass dish in 150º F for 15 minutes.
- Place decarboxylase cannabis into your jar, after it has cooled, until 3/4 full if you don’t have enough weed to fill your jar 3/4 full, use just enough alcohol to cover what you have. The alcohol should be about 1/4 higher than your marijuana level.
- Slowly fill your jars with your alcohol. (Everclear/absinthe/etc.).
- Tightly seal your jars.
- The tricombs fall into the Everclear by placing the jars into the freezer.
- Tumble your jar for 2 - 3 minutes (roll it back and forth).
- Tumble your jars daily for the next 2 - 4 weeks
- Open jars and stretch cheese cloth across the top of your jars.
- Pour solvent into a bowl, straining the liquid through cheesecloth.
- Pour liquid into smaller dropper bottles.
Enjoy! Remember to use with caution until you get a feel for the potency of your batch of Green Dragon.
Sage's Easy Cannabis Honey
- Take a half ounce of cannabis ground up and place it in a Muslin tea bag or cheesecloth.
- Place it in a glass jar
- add 1/2 cup honey.
- Seal jar and place in a crock pot.
- Add water to the crock so it is at the same level as the honey in the jar.
- Place lid on and set to warm.
- Leave for 3-5 days.
- Remove from pot and squeeze out over from teabag.
- Use cannabis tea bag in a pot of tea or make some home-made chia with it.
- Store honey in a dark cool place.

SHARON'S HONEY TINCTURE
Materials Needed
- Crock Pot with “Low” Setting
- Cheese Cloth, String
- 2 Cups Bud or 1 oz. Trim
- 5 lb. Container Honey
Step 1
- Wrap bud or trim in cheese cloth, secure with string.
- Place bundle in crock pot and cover with honey.
- Set crock pot on “low” and cover with lid.
Step 2
- Steep Cannabis four (4) hours.
- Stir a couple times an hour.
- You want the tincture to simmer, but not boil. If mixture begins to boil, turn crock pot off, let cool down, the turn on again to continue the process until done.
- This process is not an exact science. As noted, the main goal is to make the strongest medicine without burning the tincture.
- After four or five hours turn the crock pot off and let sit. Test for flavor and color. Tincture should be taking on some of the medicine by this time.
- Once cooled, you can make the decision to stop the process and have a light tincture, or you can let it sit overnight for a stronger batch.
Step 3
- Once the tincture is at the desired consistency and strength, remove the bundle from the honey, squeezing as much tincture as possible from the bag. Set aside for making chia tea (tea recipe is under "Marijuana Drinks").
- Before honey cools or thickens ladle tincture into jars. I use a canning funnel and fill small jelly (Mason) jars.
LABEL WITH LOVE
Label each jar with a warning. This is important for many reasons. Someone choosing honey for their tea from your cupboard shouldn’t be surprised by the outcome. We have all heard far too many stories of misdirected medicating to take this lightly. The labels in the image are an easy way to slap on a warning on whatever you are making.

Using every bit of this plant is a tribute to its sustainability. That bundle of goodness you soaked in honey for umpteen hours still has a good deal of medicine in there. Think making some chocolates with good dark 60% cocoa, chopped nuts and left over sludge from making your honey or simply putting in approximately 1/4 cup into a brownie mix.
If you find you don't have 5 lbs. of honey, you can divide this recipe until you reach the amount of honey and/or marijuana that you have on hand. If I were to make this recipe approximately with only two cups of honey, I would wrap up the matching amount of marijuana into the cheesecloth "burrito" putting it into a quart sized canning jar and then pouring in the 2 cups of honey over the "burrito" slowly. I would then place the glass jar with a lid into a pan of water on the stove and simmer for 6 to 8 hours (shaking every hour or so) before taking out the "burrito" squeezing all the honey from it and ending up with yummy infused honey.

Medicated Honey

Ingredients
- One dose of your alcohol marijuana tincture or FECO
- Honey / Agave Nectar
- Solid heatproof jar
- Large pot
- Use one dose of alcohol marijuana tincture or FECO per tablespoon of honey
- Mix with honey in a large heatproof glass jar
- Simmer in water in the pot on low heat with continuous stirring until the Color is consistent.
Note
Be sure to put a canning pan liner into the pan so that your glass canning jar is not making direct contact with the heat. It could ruin your efforts if the jar would break!

Cannabis Tincture Soaked for 3 Months
Ingredients
Directions
Use a 9 x 13 inch sized Pyrex baking dish placing the broken up bud in the dish
Cover with a large size baking bag holding closed with a wooden clothes pin. (plastic will melt)
Ingredients
- One ounce of good bud broken up
- 1 cup of Rice Bran Oil
Directions

Pre-heat oven to 225 degrees before baking the covered dish of bud for 15 minutes.
Now, turn the oven to 240 degrees and bake an additional 45 minutes
Processing
I used my Magical Butter Machine to process the tincture.
Now, turn the oven to 240 degrees and bake an additional 45 minutes
- After the 45 minutes, remove covered dish keeping it covered and clipped with the clothes pin
- Cool the dish completely
- Place in freezer for 24 hours
- Remove from freezer transferring the bud to an appropriate sized canning jar
- Pour the 1 cup of Rice Bran Oil very slowly over the decarboxated and frozen bud
- Place in a dark closet/cupboard for 3 months
- Make sure to carefully label the date so you will know when it is ready.
- Remember to shake up the bottle every once every day or so
Processing
I used my Magical Butter Machine to process the tincture.
- 160 degrees for 1 hour
- Let sit to cool down
- 160 degree for 1 hour
- Let sit to cool down
- 160 for 4 hours
- Strain and bottle
- Label with detail so you know the strain and how you made it.
- If you have it tested include your data on the label

If you do not have a Magical Butter Machine these directions will work to process your tincture.
- Make sure you have placed oil and bud into no larger than a pint jar so it fits into a covered crock pot
- Place a lid on the jar.
- Place the pint jars into your crock pot (I can fit 4 pint jars into my large crockpot).
- Pour boiling water into the crock pot around the jars making sure to cover jars at least 3/4 of their height.
- Turn crock pot onto low for the longest time allowed. (My crock pot goes for 10 hours.)
- Turn off the crock pot letting it cool down over night.
- Empty water from crock pot; refilling with more boiling water.
- Cook at low another 4-6 hours
Note
I took this tincture in to have it tested to see if I had finally made a tincture that would work for those with massive pain and also who have a high tolerance making it difficult to deliver a medicine that will work. I had a few patients give me a heads up on how well it was working for them. One man who could not sleep, finally found that inner peace of good night's sleep using it. He also reported that somehow it was even making his old prostate stop requiring him to get up to pee several times a night. Another patient found himself able to work on his old car; which he hadn't been able to do in months. It hurt me to watch this man move before. I felt so bad for him.
Green Leaf Lab did the testing. My local dispensary, who sent the test out for me, told me that the lab had told them the test came in higher than any other tincture they had previously tested. Needless to say, I did quite a happy dance! I realize that my test will be surpassed as soon as someone will figure out how to increase the numbers. Don't blink. I can almost hear the gears working in someone else's head.

Everclear-Glycerin Tincture
Ingredients
1/4 cup Everclear
1 cup of food-grade glycerin
1 ounce cannabis decarbed crumbled bud
Directions
Funnel mixture into 2 pint jars that have screw on canning lids (I use a large canning funnel to eliminate waste)
Place in water bath on low heat either on the stove or in a slow cooker
Keep at approximately 180 degrees for 4 days shaking every few hours or so during the 4 day cooking time.
Strain the plant material from the finished tincture. A French press works well or other fine straining method.
